UA client Jennifer Saunders is a woman of many talents. And her latest venture is the writing of a musical.
Collaborating with Judy Craymer, the producer of Mamma Mia, Jennifer has used the music of the iconic girl band The Spice Girls to write Viva Forever!
The Spice Girls were, and still are, a global phenomenon. Formed in 1994, their debut album Spice, sold more than 28 million copies, becoming the best-selling album by a female group in music history. To date they have sold over 75 million records worldwide, making them the best-selling female group of all time.
Viva Forever! is the story of a beautiful, talented girl and her best friends who get swept up in the obsession of today’s TV celebrity culture. The musical charts her journey into the world of overnight fame and its impact on her relationships with her mother and the friends she thought she’d have forever.
The show was launched yesterday at the beautiful St Pancras Hotel in King’s Cross with, much to everyone’s excitement, all five Spice Girls in attendance. Jennifer was of course there, definitely holding her own in the glamour stakes.
Judy Craymer said Jennifer Saunders is a comedy goddess and a brilliant collaborator. I feel incredibly fortunate that she agreed to write this story, her first West End musical. With her razor-sharp, witty insight she completely captures relationships, she gets the theatricality and comedy of the TV talent show and chaos that ensues for family and friends.
Have a look at what Scary, Posh, Baby, Ginger and Sporty Spice think about the show:
Viva Forever! previews from 27th November at the Piccadilly Theatre in London’s West End and I expect everyone to be dusting down their union flag dresses, track suits or hairbands and getting down there ready to unleash a whole new wave of Girl Power onto the world.

I feel sorry for the Spice Girls. They look like they can do with a meal.
